Sleepless in Aarhus

Well, it's 3:15 and it's official: I can't sleep! I guess it has it's natural reasons, since I was sleeping all day because of a migraine. Anyway, when I can't sleep, I get really profound and start thinking too much, which makes it even harder to sleep. So in an effort to get rid of these thoughts, I'm sharing them.

A lot of you will know this story (and person) beforehand, but I thought it best to keep his name out of it anyway - just a general rule.

I use to have a really great friend, who I knew from London. For a period of about 6 months, where my life was pretty confusing and difficult, he was the one person, I felt like I could tell everything without being judged or hurting anyone, and I think he felt the same way about me. Then I screwed it up by going out with him - I guess I mistook trusting a guy for the first time in ages for romantic feelings. Fact is, I had to end it, and he insisted on staying friends.

So for a while we were friends, and then what happened? I guess, he got over me. We didn't have that friendship we used to have, and when he moved on, he didn't need to pretend that we did. In August I was in London, and we'd decided to meet up. We haven't seen each other for two years, so I thought it'd be nice plus I'd like to meet his girlfriend, who seems sweet. I bought chocolate for him (apparently Swedish chocolate is the best!), and texted him as soon as I arrived. He didn't really asnwer me till half an hour befoer I had to leave for the airport. It pissed me off, and I haven't actually spoken to him since.

A month after my birthday I got an e-mail from him consisting of two parts: First he said belated happy birthday. I can't really blame him for forgetting my birthday, since I've never remembered his, but it just make me think of back when he would never have forgotten it.

Secondly, he said he was sorry that we didn't meet up when I was in London, that it would have been good to see me again and that he could feel the sarcasm in my texts!! So I wonder: He's sorry he missed me when I was in London, he knows it pissed me of, but still it took him THREE months to apologize? I guess that's when I realized that he just doesn't care anymore. Honesty was the one thing I appreciated the most about our friendship, and I felt like that mail lacked it.

And to be completely honest with all of you - I think I lost the ability or the guts to be honest with him too...otherwise I would probably just have written all of this to him.

...so damn hot on the dancefloor!!

Exchange part 4

The battle for exchange started up again about 1 1/2 month ago actually; I just forgot to update:-)

So today you all get the ultimate update, because the first part is sorted - I am leaving in July and will be going to the University of Wollongong in Australia for four months :-D Right now I think it's pretty amazing, but I still have tons of stuff to apply for; first of all I have to make the official application to Wollongong. Oh yeah, and Mads used Google Earth last night to show me that I'll be putting about 16000km between - scary :)

Anyways, if you wanna take a look at the uni, here's the homepage:

www.uow.edu.au

"Babel"

Date & Time: 11/11-06, 18:30
Place: Metropol
With: Mads

I originally really wanted to see this film; then I didn't, and then - as a "thank you for being a tutor"-gift, I recieved a gift certificate for the cinema, so Mads and I decided to go see it anyway, because Jeppe from my class said it was great.

The story in itself was good, but I was a bit dissappointed by the style of the film. There was some messing around with the time, which I didn't find was very well done, so it just ended up seeming a bit confusing and like a cheap trick to make it look cool. But I think thw story made up for it, especially the parts with the deaf, Chinese girl - damn, she was messed up. So yeah, it was an okay film :-) ...and if you go watch it, please tell me, of Brad Pitt isn't suddenly looking really old? I'm thinking it's because of all those kids he's suddenly got with Angelina Jolie...

"Borat - Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan "

Date&Time: 4/11, 21:30
Place: Cinemaxx
With: Mads

It's been a while since I've watched a film in a full theatre, but apparently this one is the big hit at the moment. And I guess if you're into the kind of humour that consists almost solely of racist jokes and jokes about inappropriate sex, this film rocks. And I have to the surrender to the fact that I thought it was really funny as well. Though not only because of the naked men wrestling (and not naked in the good way) and the shitting in a bag, but also because of the completely insane Amricans that Borat meets on his journey - just when you thought Americans couldn't get more extreme, they did!

Definitely watchable!

"World Trade Center"

Date: 5/11-06, 18:30
Place: Cinemaxx
With: Marie & Erik

Another one of those films where the ticket is 50% off, which was also the only reason that I actually watched it at the cinema, because I really had no expectations of it being any good.

I changed my mind a bit though. I mean, it's a bit like "Borat": Just when you thought Americans couldn't get anymore American, they did! So there was a lot of love flying through the air and of course everyone was a hero, but I think the actual plot of the film - the two policemen trapped under one of the towers - worked well. I didn't give much thought to the 9/11-theme, but just got caught up in a good story.

So I surprisingly ended up liking it. Just don't watch it, if you're not a bit into the touchy, feely stuff, because there's a lot of that going around in "World Trade Center".

High School Re-union

This year it's five years since I graduated from high school and on Friday we had our reunion. 15 people showed up out of 23 - that's not too bad. It was all very nice and cozy, but the best part was chatting to a couple of my good friends from "back then", who I totally lost contact with. Promises were made, of course, that we were gonna meet up soon, but even though I sincerely want it to happen, I don't want to get my hopes up.

Oh yeah, and I just loved watching Lene taking of her wedding rings and explaining the inscription about 100 times - I know whe's always been a bit jealous that we weren't the ones with the boyfriends, great clothes and exciting lives, and now all of a sudden, she's the one who's actually gotten married...and even better, she got married to something as exotic as a Brazilian guy (good thing none of them actually met him - nice guy and all, but he doesn't really create an atmosphere of carnivals and banana skirts). So good on ya, Lene.

Scary to think how competative we'll be at out 10 or 25 year reunion. I found it a bit silly that people kept asking whether you were pregnant or married, cause we're all 24-25, but at the same time I was pretty relieved that I actually have a live-in boyfriend, so I at least felt comfortable with who I am and where I am at this stage. Silly, but I guess you can never really escape expectations.

So I guess the last thing left to ponder now is what I want to be telling these people if we meet again in 5 years. I'll be 30 and finished at uni. I guess I'd like to be married at 30 and at least trying for those damn kids. And I'd prefer to be trying for those kids abroad somewhere - maybe the States or OZ - in some kind of exciting job...not sure what kind of job, but hey, I've got 5years to figure that out, right? :D

Another birthday gone

25 this time - 25 is pretty big this time; for some people it's more of a crisis than 30:-) I don't feel too bothered though...every year I expect to feel different, but it's all the same :D

Anyhow, I had a nice day (except for pouring rain as usual) - dinner with Mads and karaokee bar with some friends. Sunday I had my family over and on the 17th of November my friend and I are having the big birthday bash at a club.

Had some nice presents for my birtday, like jewellery, Jeopardy and an exercise-watch (go figure ;))

So last weekend was all about relaxation, while this weekend is work, work, work. Friday and Saturday are normal days except for the hours and Sunday we have to count everything in the shop - sounds extremely silly, but there's free food :D

Well, next stop today is spinning class with the army-trainer...

"Sprængfarlig Bombe"

Dato&Tidspunkt: 01/10, 19:15
Biograf: Cinemaxx

Dejlig let underholdning :D

Update

I just realised that the entire month of September does not exist in this blog, so I thought I'd just give you an update on what I've been doing.

A few days after the trip to Northern Jutland, Lene, Pia and I went to London for 4 days, which was great fun. There was lots and lots of drinking (when we arrived Thursday, we had dinner and then began the weekend with a Shepherd's Bush Green pubcrawl, which was graded), a bit of shopping and a musical ("Les Miserables). In my book, excactly how I would spend a week in London :) The three of us have to go again sometime; except for the whole of Friday, where I had a hangover (mmm, throwing up at Garfunkel's), it was just all good fun - feeling a bit sorry for some of the people at the hostel and the Walkabout though :D

I came back from London Sunday night and Monday morning the intro-week for new students at the Nordic Institute at uni started. I volunteered to help "the little ones" for that week, so it was a full, but really fun week. The class that my friend Marie and I + two guys were responsible for, were all people, who are studying Nordic as their 2nd subject, so they already know the uni and the city, which means no holding their hands, but lots of socializing and partying. It was a really good week, and I got to meet some really nice people.

On the weekend I had my two brothers + their girlfriends visiting, because we went to the Marselies-run Sunday. It was pretty damn hard, and I finished in about 53mins, which was slower than last year. I blame the two weeks of drinking and fast food prior to the run!

That weekend brings us in to September and classes starting again, which I missed, cause I still had tutor-duties and went on an intro-trip Monday and Tuesday, which was also great, except that I was starting to feel pretty beat.

After a couple of weeks trying to make myself start studying again, I went to London again with my three oldest friends, Marie, Mette & Sophie. This time it was loads of shopping, a little bit of drinking (hangover at Garfunkel's again- this time the waiter asked me in Danish, how I was doing!!) and a musical ("Chicago" - it was really cool). It was a good trip, even though I got a bit frantic with the fact that I only spent an hour on Sunday at the Walkie, and I'm not really into days of shopping - even though I got some cool, new stuff as well!
So now, I'm just trying to get back to everyday life, but I seem to have some difficulties. I haven't done any school work yet this semester; I just can't seem to muster up the enthusiasm.

I guess the London trips also made me miss the big city a bit again, and all the crazy, entertaining people you can run into there. To be honest, even though I left three years ago, and everyone I knew there has gone home (well, except for one person, who apparently was waaaay to busy to see me, when I was there), I would still like to go there again to live - not permanently, but still...

Well, I'll end this very long entry with some pictures from when Lene, Pia and I went - I didn't take any pictures the 2nd time, because everyone else did, so I'm still waiting to get those. Oh, and if we look drunk in the pics - we are :D
Pia grading Wetherspoon's...helped by Lene's arse...
Ouch...O'Niell's only pulled 3 1/2 on the 10 scale...And of course, the Walkie (even on a Thursday night) gets a 10...with and arrow up, I think!!
Well, aren't we just pretty??
Moving on to Saturday, I'm not entirely sure what's going on here, but Mr. Ireland on the left was a Walkabout Virgin and his friend in the middle was dance crazy all night!!
Again not really sure, what's going on here (except for Pia obviously having had a lot of Snakebite), but if you think our friend for the night - who thought everything we said was hilarious - Mr. Lamb, is looking pretty scary, wait till you see his version of Karate Kid!!

Cleaning out the fish-shit

Well, I had an 11 1/2-hour shift at work today. And as if spending your entire day at work wasn't bad enough, I got to be the one cleaning the tube, where the fish swim up. This tube was really mingy, so I thought I'd give it a proper clean (because noone else ever does), and so. when I was cleaning green, yucky stuff off the inside of this tube, I suddenly realised that this could be the fish' shit...they've probably been pooing all over that tube just to get to me!! And yet again, this made me think that I really need to get a new job...

The fish were pretty, freaking happy about their new, clean tube though- they were literally lining up to get in and up...ha ha..

Oh yeah, that reminds me, I also landed in a situation today with a co-worker, where I used the phrase "oh, it was just the wrong hole". Immediately, this almost uncontrollable urge to go "you don't always know which hole to put it into", or something similar, rushed over me, but I managed to hold it back - not sure that's the image I want to project of myself at work.

1. august 2006

Soaked through and through

Well, it looks like the Danish summer finally arrived, which I just experienced up close from getting soaked by the rain within the first five minutes on my bike back from work. Almost got run over too, and for once, it really wasn't my fault.

Good thing, about the rain, as well, cause the long, hot summer was starting to freak me out. I could almost hear the poles melting...

13. juli 2006

I'm facing reality...

...that I in about 6 weeks once again am joining a voluntary run of 6km, and I - as always - am completely unfit for that kind of behaviour. So even though August is actually almost filled up with work, charter and tutor-duties, I'm going to actually try and train for it this time, starting today. My friend Mette gave me a "Learn to run 5km in 6 weeks"-programme, and even though I need to run 6 and only have 6 weeks, I'm gonna start out by following that, because it begins fairly easy and I don't wanna discourage myself right from the start :D

So today I haver to walk for 5mins, run for 1 and then repeat...I think even I can handle that!!!

Bachelor of Arts

Weeeh, just recieved my certificate from uni today that I am now a BA - Bachelor if Arts. So even though I wasn't really satisfied with my last grade, nothing can now overshadow the very cool fact that I now have a title :D :D :D

Yep, I'm pretty psyched!!!

Crap's upside yo' head, say crap's upside yo' head

Anyone ever felt like their head was swimming with stuff? My old English teacher hated the word "stuff", but that's excactly what it is - thoughts, worries, memories, fantasies, you name it. Sometimes it happens suddenly and I'll find myself lying awake half the night with my swarming untill I end up e-mailing someone, or pouring my thoughts all over the sole pour person online on Messenger...

This time it's been going on for days, and I partly know where it's coming from - or rather what triggered it - and partly ahve no clue, what is going on. I always end up sorting my head out (or at least I do now that I'm with Mads) but I still decided to take a bit of a break - just go to Bulgaria and think of nothing than old monestaries and my next visit to the beach :-)

Ferie, ferie, ferie!!!

24. juni 2006

New gang in town?

Just got back from work, and on my way home, in an intersection, I saw this group of young people, all wearing capes and masks. When they'd crossed the street they all squatted and made a huddle...I'm thinking super-hero-gang?!!!

Summer Break

In 3 1/2 hours is the deadline for the very last paper, I have to write before going on summer break. I really feel like I ahven't had a proper holiday since I started at Nordic in September, so I can't wait. Of course, som of the time will be spend in Bauhaus, but just the fact that that my spare time will actually be SPARE time is quite amazing to me. Summer break - yeahj!

Off topic

Well, only the first bit's of topic, don't know what the rest is. Just wanted to start of by saying that it is day two of the World Cup, and I'm already sick and tired of it. I mean, we're not even in it for crying out loud! And I guess working in an enviroment where there's just about 90% men doesn't better the situation.

Anyways, wanted to tell you about my Thursday night (this is not a pleasant story). Had a barbecue with my study group and one of the other groups from my class. I was having a pretty good night, just drinking and chatting until one of the guys from the other group decided to tell me his honest opinion about me. This is a guy I have hardly spoken to in the past year, simply because we have nothing in common, but apparently he still thought he knew everything about me and the kind og person I am (and it wasn't good). I tried in my calmest manner to explain my view of it all, he told me I was full of shit and some other pretty horrible things and I ended the conversation by sitting myself down somewhere else than right next to him.

The problem now was that he kept on provoking me all night by coming up to me and adding to the insults. I asked him to leave me alone, but it just didn't work. In the end he picked up a girl from my old English class and forgot about me, but by then my night was pretty much ruined.

One of the other guys told me that I shouldn't care what he said to me, since he wasn't a person whose opinion mattered to me. And I agree that I would've been really upset, if one of my friends would have said those things to me, but the point is that they actually know me, and therefore wouldn't. He was just trying to make himself feel better by putting me "in a box", and I really don't give a shit about his reasons; he had no right.

Oh yeah, one of the things he knew for sure about me was that I, on several occasions, had talked about him behind his back. Well, I wouldn't call this behind anyone's back...

"Match Point"

Date&Time: 07/06, 18:30
Place: Cinemaxx
With: Pia, Tine & Marie

My vote for Most Frustrating Film of The Year must be this one. I usually don't watch Woody Allen-films, because I think he's a disgusting old man, but if his point here was to drive the entire theatre insane, he was close to succeding. 2 1/2 hrs watching this horribly English guys being a complete arsehole without any morals whatsoever and constantly getting away with it. Apparently, the point is that it's all about luck - I think it was lucky noone walked out (this woman behind me actually went: "That's it, I'm leaving now" in the middle of it).

Still, I guess the film succeded in wat it was trying to do. I don't think anyone left the cinema without having been pretty affected by the film while inthere. Apart from that, I loved the way those stiff, upper class English people were being characterized, even though I thought the contrast to the Amrican girl was a bit much. I say, watch it, but maybe wait for the dvd!

"The Da Vinci Code"

Date&Time: 01/06-06
Place: Metropol
With: Mette & Mads

Yet another film, where I read the book first, and unfortunately only a few months ago. The book was all too fresh in my memory, so I was a bit dissapointed how A LOT of code detail was skipped in the film - I mean, it IS called "The Da Vinci CODE".

But I guess looking at it independently from the book, it was an okay film. Action sequences not too long to make them boring, and mixed with some surprises and actual code-breaking. So I'll just blame the fact that I fell asleep twice on my lack of sleep the night before...

Great casting for Silas by the way, he was perfect for that role. Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon though....well, no wonder that he didn't score with Sophie in the film as he did in the book ;)

London calling

Hung out with my friends from "boarding school" last night, and in the spirit of being a bit spontanious, we ended up ordering plane tickets for a weekend in London in September!! 350kr each for a return ticket is pretty cool ( byt for some odd reason, Ryanair makes you pay for bringing lugagge now!).

Just can wait to go to London again - it's been two years since I went - and show them "my London"...which of course means that the main attractions are Harrods and the Walkabout :D

Migraine bye bye

I had my third and last round of acupuncture today to cure my migraine. The most amazing thing is that it seems to be working - haven't had a migraine for about five weeks (which to me, is a hell of a long time), and I even had an exam yesterday without puking ;) anyways, let's hope it sticks - I am just supposed to call the doctor when I can feel it coming back, and then I'll have to go again.

It has now been two months since I sent my computer to the repairman, and still I'm iBook-less. The guy who is supposed to be fixing the problem has all sorts of good excuses to why I didn't get it back yet, but I can't really use excuses - pretty hard to check your e-mail on them!

I just want my computer back!!!

And the running continues...

Mads and I just returned from Vamdrup, where my younger brother, his girlfriend and I ran this year's "Kongeåløb". This time it took me 40mins12sec, which is two minutes slower than 2004, but three minutes faster than last year, so that's all right :-) Next round isn't till the beginning of September, where we'll be running here in Århus - I'm hoping to get it together to actually train a bit for it...

Just came back from my gym's birthday celebration, which pretty much consisted of exercise and a guy hinting to Pia and I that we're in the legal fat zone, but it wouldn't be all bad if we lost some weight - so not how MY bithday's going to go.

Today's big mistake was Pia and I deciding that we'd like to try out an hours pump class, which turned out to be a guy being extrenely peppy, while we lifted weights on beat with techno music. This has resulted in the fact that I currently have no control over my right arm, as everytime I think about lifting something, my muscles start cramping up....it's gonna be a great day at work tomorrow...

It's actually been quite a while since I went to see this film, but I just remembered the other day, so here it goes:

I haven't actually got that much to say about it...great costumes and it was interesting to see a completely different culture, but all in all, to me it was just a love story. I know that it probably had a message about this ancient, amazing culture being destroyed by the war and the Americans, but I found it rather repulsive that they auctioned of her virginity (suddenly feel like I gave mine up too easily ;)), so I'm sticking with my initial thought: Okay love story, great costumes.

So here´s how my week went...

Monday: Group work ending in migraine.

Tuesday: 24hr migraine going strong and had to get to my group work session; last chance before my exam. Called my doctor in desperation and then managed to get out of bed and get pills. Group work and then home and eat lots of ice cream, which took the nausea.

Wednesday: Exam. Haven't been this nervous since high school, but, in case you didn't know, recieved an amazing 11, so I had a beer with my friends and went home just to wait for hours to order pizza - promised Mads I'd by pizza if I got at least 9 at my exam, but he wasn't home till 8pm and by then he was a bit sick and not much fun.

Thursday: Had a class at 8am despite having just had an exam. Spend two hours walking around in the sodding rain, trying to find a new pair of trousers, but apparently they only make jeans for super skinny girls...so I didn't get to spend any of the tax money I got back!! Choir practice in the evening and a bit of a birthday celebration for Sophie, who turned 25 at midnight.

Friday: Work. Very tired when I got home and hurting feet. Mads' parents gave a surprise visit - and here I thought I was going to sit around in my dressing gown all night!

Saturday: More work. More tired. Feet hurting even more.

Sunday: Work, work, work. If I thought the two previous days was painfull for my feet, I thought wrong. Spend the evening playing WoW with Mads and my new char Ylajali.

And now it's Monday again. And I just realised you should never ever sum up your week like this...:-)

I'm too old...

...to be drinking so much that I can't remember what happened or how many people I've texted. Still, that is what happened on Saturday night at my friend's 25th birthday. And of course I spent all Sunday paying for it - didn't fully recover till around 8pm...I'm SO not an adult....

''
Aftenen blev sluttet af med en ordentlig omgang dans på Crazy Daisy - all in all en ret vellykket aften!!

incriminati - hide your drugs as fast as you can

Ha ha ha....

This is pretty funny - not so much the dragging stuff as the stuff you have to drag...don't even wanna know about Gary Glitter and the hand cuffs...

Why is it...

...that I struggle to get through 20 pages of reading for school, but I crammed the last 150 pages of "The Da Vinci Code" (yes, I read it in English) in between breakfast and shower this morning?

I know, I, as the literature student, shouldn't be saying this, but what a book!! I actually found myself interested in art and history (yes, I know not all of it is true) and also reading a thriller, which usually isn't my thing - but with all the twist and turns...well, I've never been a stranger to or a critic of pop culture, so I might as well admit to the fact that this book got me as well :D

Anyways, can't wait for the film to come out - only downside is Tom Hanks playing Robert Langdon...me and a couple of girlfriends saw him more as a George Clooney-kinda type ;)

My good deed :)

Well, I'm done with my 1 year quaranteen (damn those saffas :) ), so on Wednesday I went to the blood bank for my very first blood donation.

The nurse made the unsmart move of starting out by telling me that she was going to use a bigger needle today...I'm luckily not scared of needles, and it wasn't a big deal; just a lot of lying down and about 1 second of pain. Other than that, I spend 20 minutes staring at the ceiling, and this note they had upthere that said: "Don't bother counting the holes. There 13.543 of them." I thought that was pretty amusing.

Anyways, the best part is that you get chocolate and juice (or whatever you'd like instead - just not alcohol :D) afterwards. Oh yeah, and I got one of those plastic bracelets that are all the hibe at the moment. So I decided to get very graphic and show y'all the hole from where she stuck the needle in me and my fancy new bracelet :D

"The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe"

Date&time: 14/02, 21:00
Place: Biocity
With: Ole, Britta, Hanne & Mads

Yet again, a film for which I have read the book - actually, all of the books - just last fall, but I'm sort of getting used to wieving a film missing half the original action. Besides, to me, half the fun is watching the characters from the book come alive - do they look and act like I imagined them? I noticed the children in Narnia looking very English, which I guess was good :) But the main thing were the creatures and the talking animals, which were brilliant. I especially liked the beaver speaking Cockney English and, of course, Aslan.

I WILL have to comment on the "book to film"-issue. The film was 2hr12mins, and still, the story was cut down to its very basics. Generally, I think it worked well, but I was a bit surprised, when the children - in particular Edward and Peter - go from innocent kids to great warriors in about 30 seconds. I think they go through quite a development in that stage that you totally miss out on...

But, in an effort not to turn this into a comparison that will undoubtedly end of giving the book the majority of the praise, I'm just gonna go ahead and rate it "yeah, it was okay"! :D I had expected a bit more, I guess, because of the world that I know from the books, and I guess that if you haven't already read the Narnia Chronicles, this will just be a kid's movie to you.

Back to school...

Uni started up on the 1st of February and I had my first classes at bloody 8:15 am yesterday - me getting up at 7-ish must've been a bit like watching "Night of the living dead". On top of that, my first class back was "Language 2", which I do not find anymore interesting that I did "Language 1".

Anyways, just trying to get fully organized, so I won't be suddenly without books I urgently need and I won't spend half my time panicking over stuff I should've read, but now realise I don't have the time for. It is my goal to be organized this semester, so I don't end up the migraine-suffering mess I was last year.

So that's my little life. All the exciting stuff is happening to Mads with the birthday, the new job, the emmensely tragic sale of the Powerbook and so on. But being the good girlfriend that I am, I'm being emotional for him, so he won't have to bother with that :D

28. januar 2006

Heja Sverige!

8. januar 2006

Barok coming up.

"Mrs. Henderson Presents"

Date&time: 5/1-06, 19:00
Place: Cinemaxx
With: Pia and Tine

Another Filmclub film, which means that we're never really sure what to expect. This one is about a widow, who, just before WW2, starts a controversial theater in London with nude women. When the war starts, the other theaters close down, but she insists on going on.

In reality, I guess it's about hope. For someone who's seen two world wars, it's amazing how she will keep on going - mostly for the young men who are going to war, I guess, but still.

It was quite a nice little film with a rather broad sence of humour. Mrs. Henderson (played by Judi Dench) is a very real character - strong and independent (and because of that, very amusing), but just underneath the surface, fragile and sad - both in the sense that she is still in some state of morning, but also just a sad sort of person.

I definitely think it's worth watching, but since it's stopped running in the cinemaes, I would recommmend to wait for the dvd :-)

4. januar 2006

I told ya, I must be getting old!

First the reminiscing, then my eye-sight and now it turns out that my once-in-a-while headache plus vomiting is migraine. So now I have to go to the doctor's to have my blood pressure measured, buy ridiculously expensive migraine pills and maybe stop taking the pill because it could be making the migraines worse. Oh yeah, and there was talk of acupuncture!!

I've never actually had an illness like that (if it even qualifies), so it bothers me a bit that I suddenly have to start thinking about it. Must mean I'm getting old...

3. januar 2006

I'm going blind!!

Had an appointtment with my lense guy today, because I sometimes have blurry vision on one eye. Apparently, it's just because I'm going blind...he gave me new lenses, so now I'm up to -2.75 - how sad!!

"Domino"

Date&time: 01/01-06, 19:00
Place: Cinemaxx
With: Mads

I will admit straight up that one of th reasons I was looking forward to this film was because it was supposed to contain hints to "Beverly Hills 90210" - I used to love that show! But also the story about an overclass girl turned bounty hunter sounded rather cool - apparently it's a tru story. I'd read a rather bad review of it, where the guy was complaining about the cutting, the shortness of the scenes, the story-telling etc, but I usually don't pay any attention to film reviews, because often I disagree.

Like I did this time.

I rarely watch an action film that can actually keep my attention, but this one was cool. I think because the action scenes were mixed with fragments of the story and lots of times they ended up providing little twist and turns to the story. So I guess it wasn't your typical action film, since there were no ten minute scenes of pure car chase and shooting, which is usually where my mind wanders.

Plus, I've only seen Keira Knightley in "Love Actually", where she's just about the nicest person on the planet, so it was a bit wierd when the film almost started out with her shouting 'PUT THE FUCKING GUN DOWN", but she was great. She was cool, calm and collected :-)
Apart from her, most of the other characters were quite funny and interesting as well - there was a fantastic scene where one of the black women, Lateesha, is on Jerry Springer promoting new names for mixed races, calling herself a "blacktino" (or something similar) - oh my God.

Definitely go watch it.

And not just because Brian Austen Green and Ian Ziering also both are way cooler here than they ever were in "90210" :-D
