Another Filmclub film, which means that we're never really sure what to expect. This one is about a widow, who, just before WW2, starts a controversial theater in London with nude women. When the war starts, the other theaters close down, but she insists on going on.
In reality, I guess it's about hope. For someone who's seen two world wars, it's amazing how she will keep on going - mostly for the young men who are going to war, I guess, but still.
It was quite a nice little film with a rather broad sence of humour. Mrs. Henderson (played by Judi Dench) is a very real character - strong and independent (and because of that, very amusing), but just underneath the surface, fragile and sad - both in the sense that she is still in some state of morning, but also just a sad sort of person.
I definitely think it's worth watching, but since it's stopped running in the cinemaes, I would recommmend to wait for the dvd :-)
